KonMari Method

The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo has transformed my relationship with possessions and clutter. I devoured this book in only one week and it has left a significant mark on my life.

I had a lot of stuff that I wanted to sift through and get rid of, but was held prisoner because I didn’t know HOW. This book helped me to figure out the HOW.

I have sold countless possessions this week, donated truckloads to the thrift store, and am so happy!

The theme of the book is, “keep and use what sparks joy, let go of what does not”. This makes sense to my brain and I have fully embraced it.

I was able to get rid of cooking gadgets that I hated, but was “supposed” to have. I donated my off-brand Tupperware because I hated it. I went through my childhood photo albums and kept only those photos that I loved and let go of the rest. I sold and donated books that I loved reading, but knew I would never pick up again (I sure don’t want them taking up what little precious space I have on my little bookshelves). I sold furniture that I once loved, but no longer use it, need it, or want it. I sold photo frames because frames around my home make me feel anxious (I have photo albums and that’s enough for me). I sold lamps that I love, but no longer have a place to use them.

I feel liberated. I feel happy. I feel lighter. My home is starting to look the way I want it to. My home is turning into a retreat. My home is becoming my sanctuary.
